
The
American missionaries set up Kodaikanal in the year 1845 to escape the
unfriendly climatic conditions and the Malarial epidemic. Located in the
state of Tamil Nadu, it is one of the most frequented hill stations in the
southern peninsular India. The cool retreat of Kodaikanal is located at an
elevation of 2,100 metres above sea level and remains punctuated with
waterfalls and cascades.

» Kurinji Andavar Temple : The temple is positioned
at a distance of 3.2 km from the lake. Erected in 1936 by a European lady,

Kodai Hills every 12 years. It is dedicated to Sri Kurinji Easware or Lord
Murugan.

Pillar Rocks : These four rocks that seem to touch the sky are a big
attraction for tourists here. These mist-laden rocks can also be viewed
through a telescope from upon the Coaker's Walk. They rise to a height of
more than 120 metres.
